FARA ASA, the leading supplier of IT solutions to the public transport sector in the Nordic countries, has signed an agreement with X-Trafik AB, which operates in the county of Gävleborg, Sweden. The contract is an upgrade of the existing ticketing solution and is valued at approximately MSEK 10,5. In addition a service and maintenance agreement worth MSEK 3,3 over 2 years has been agreed. “Obviously, it is of great value that yet another former customer of CPT chooses to continue the cooperation with FARA coming onboard as a valued partner in developing additional functionality and solutions going forward”, says Øivind Kirksæter, CEO of FARA ASA. The agreement includes an upgrade of the existing ticketing solution and represents a continuation of the cooperation between X-Trafik and FARA. The main project covering approximately 200 buses comprises an upgrade of the ticketing solution previously developed and delivered by CPT Nordic, as well as service and maintenance for 2 years for the system upgrade. Through the CPT takeover in December 2008, FARA has consolidated and reinforced it’s position as the leading supplier of IT systems to the public transport sector in the Nordic countries. X-Trafik represents FARA’s second major Swedish ticketing project this year following the agreement entered into with Kalmar Läns trafik in the beginning of April this year. “The acquisition of CTP Nordic has secured FARA quick and cost efficient access to the Swedish market, which is the largest single market in the Nordic countries. It is a great acknowledgement for us to be accepted by professional Swedish customers, such as X-Trafik, which proves that FARA’s leading technology is generic and adaptable to local needs all over Europe. This also serves as an additional proof of concept and attractiveness among leading operators as the agreement with X-Trafik is the second contract in Sweden this month”, says Øivind Kirksæter of FARA ASA. FARA is experiencing increased interest for its solutions and services in Sweden, especially among the former customers of CPT Nordic. “On this basis we expect our position to further strengthen with additional deliveries to traffic companies and counties in Sweden expected. With an increasing product portfolio, we are determined to further develop our leading market position in the Nordic countries as well as entering into new markets in Eastern and Central Europe”, expands Øivind Kirksæter.
